Throughout my childhood our mother was always in the kitchen cooking up something. A stay at home mom with four kids she had to be creative in the snack area. Being very health conscious and wanting us to eat our veggies and fruit she developed these fantastic Dip varieties. We hope you enjoy them!
Basic Mixing instructions for our dips.
Blend 16 oz or two cups of sour cream with one packet of spice blend and let chill for one hour for best results and taste. The spices have to activate and blossom. Our spicy dips really heat up over night.
For the more health conscious minded folks use low fat or non fat sour cream, Greek Yogurt, Tofu, Hummus or Plain Yogurt also work beautifully, and don't forget about cottage cheese just a sprinkle is needed to perk things up.
For Bagel Smeers- there are two ways. Mix one cup sour cream with one cup cream cheese or two cups of whipped cream cheese works really nice.
Salad Dressing- start by adding 2 tablespoons of buttermilk or regular milk, and mix "to your desired consistency" to the regular dip mix instructions. The Dilly Cucumber and Lime Cilantro on fish taco's are amazing. Greek yougurt works outstanding and only has 200 calories.
You can use these mixes in so many different ways.
*Lets start with potatoes. For baked, mashed, or fried you can sprinkle some of our Garlic and Chive or Garlic Herb for a really flavorful surprise. Not to much, a little goes a long way, and of course if you like sour cream just add a dollup of dip on top, "YUM"!!
Our Dip Mixes make incredible bagel smears. Some of our favorites are Sundried Tomato Basil, Green Onion Spinach, Spinach Jalapeno, Garlic & Chive, Fresh Onion.
Garlic Habanero- In soups and sauces, or as a dry rub on meat is the missing ingredient you've always been looking for. It doesn't take much!! So use it sparingly!! You never want the spices to overwhelm the natural flavors of your own dishes just accent it. Some of our favorites are in Chili or Spaghetti and of course Mac & Cheese. This spice added to Italian and Mexican dishes are incredible. Sprinkle on hamburgers and mash it in, let hamburger sit for at least 15 minutes before cooking.
Dilly Cucumber- is the perfect dry rub on fish!! Make a tartar sauce on the side 2 parts mayo to 1 part mustard add dilly spice to desired taste add some diced onion and pickle if you like "this is really good".
Use in deviled eggs or egg salad WOW! Sprinkle on cottage cheese for a nice change of pace.
Spinach Jalapeno-- This makes one of the best Spinach dip bread bowls I've ever had. Just use your favorite recipe and add a packet of our dip mix for a real party pleaser. Make's an awesome bagel spread!
Sundried Tomato Basil-- The Best Bagel spread Ever!!
In soups and sauces this is incredible!! If your looking for something to spice up your Italian dishes this is it. Add it to cottage cheese top with fresh tomato or veggiies YUM!!
Easy Three Baked Potato's
Cut equal parts of Sweet, Red and Yukon Gold potato's into quarters. Remove skin from the sweet potato's and they are bigger so cut to appropriate size but not to small. Put a little olive or vegetable oil on them butter will work to. Sprinkle about a teaspoon or so of Garlic Herb, Garlic & Chive, or Fresh Onion on and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes then add a couple scoops of butter. Preheat oven to 375 to 400, cook for 30 minutes and stir with a spatula and add more butter if desired. Continue cooking another 15 minutes or so till done. This is one of our family's favorites.
Garlic & Herb or Smokin Tomato Bacon Burgers
This recipe is so easy yet so good!!
Take two pounds of 80/20 hamburger and add 1/2 to a whole packet of our Garlic & Herb or Smokin Tomato Bacon spice blends. Mix in well and make your patties. Let sit for about 15 minutes before cooking. Best on the BBQ but equally good cooked in a pan. The Smokin Tomato Bacon is like an indoor BBQ. Almost all of our spice blends work great with this application.
Jalapeno Spinach Ranch Guacamole
Take four ripe avocados and mash into a bowl. Prepare our Jalapeno Spinach Ranch dip with only 1 cup of sour cream. Combine the two together with the juice of one lime and a teaspoon or so of granulated garlic. Granulated garlic has zero sodium and really accents the flavor. Add a dash of salt if desired.
Makes about three cups, garnish with some fresh cilantro add diced onions and fresh diced Tomato's if desired.
For Great Soups
Heat 3 to 4 cups of water in a pan and add spice packet to water and let simmer on a very low heat.
Prepare saute'd veggies, meat or fish of you choice.
Most soups will have three basic veggies Onions, Carrots, and Celery. Other great stuff in soups are Anaheim Chiles for a little spicy flavor, White sweet corn, Petite sweet pea's Etc...
We call this the kitchen sink soup because we'll take out all the left overs and throw them in. Add some Rice or Noodles and your ready to eat.
